So Overrated

Okay, so I am not known for my patience. I fully admit this, despite having recently made great (and documentable) efforts to be a more patient person.

As I try to figure out how to play through the latest set of cards life has dealt me, it has occurred to me that patience is clearly something that is vastly overrrated.

I could scream every time I hear someone say "patience is a virtue!" Puh-lease. It's never gotten me a damn thing, personally or professionally. For me, it's akin to being perceived as a pushover, or gullible, or even lazy. That's not to say that patient people are any one of those things -- it's just so foreign to me that I have no choice but to view it as a bad thing.

Now, if you're reading this and you consider yourself to be a patient person . . . well, good for you! Really. I am very happy for you.

I am not, and I am not looking to change anytime soon. And I am happy about that!

To quote Margaret Thatcher, “I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end.”
