Meet Virginia . . . more than just one of my favorite "Train" songs
She could be quite cold, and yet incredibly playful. She loved to swim, but wouldn't put her head under the water lest her hair be mussed. She loved fine chocolates, but drank instant Sanka.
She thought men doing yard work without a shirt on were vulgar, but she herself avoided wearing underpants.
She took great pride in being married for over 61 years to one of the kindest and most handsome men the world had ever seen. But she always refused to attend her high school reunions because she had been pregnant when they married, and thus didn't want her former classmates gossiping about her.
She mentally tortured her only daughter for years, but took immense delight in her only granddaughter's interests and accomplishments.
She adamantly and loudly refused to ever babysit any future grandchildren she might have. But she adored having her grandaughter live with her from the ages of 4 - 11.
She insisted on carrying a huge and heavy purse full of every styling accoutrement known to woman, but she gallantly carried it as she went cave-exploring 8 times with her husband and granddaughter.
She was my grandmother. And yesterday she finally got the one thing she wanted most . . . to be with my Poppy, in Heaven, forever.
