You Would Go to Jail for Starving a Dog, Folks!

Dr. J and I have been very upset about the slow murder of Terri Schiavo by her "guardian," Michael Schiavo (sorry, I can't bring myself to refer to him as her husband; since the courts have named him as her guardian, I will call him that and nothing more).

This tears at me so much . . . to know that in America, a women who has a family who wants to care for her, who wants to feed and nourish her, who wants to restart the therapy her "guardian" hasn't permitted in over a decade, but is not permitted to do so because her "guardian" has decided to move on with his life by creating 2 kids with his girlfriend and can no longer be bothered with treating Terri in a humane manner . . . well, it's disgusting.

I am once again providing a link to my friend Steve's web site. He has written a thoughtful commentary on Terri's case, and the unimaginable emotional pain her parents, siblings, and friends must be going through.

I am also providing a link to a web site about Terri. If there was a doubt in my mind about this case, clicking on the "Myths About Terri" surely erased all of them.

The Pittsburgh Singles Scene

My friend Steve maintains his own blog that focuses mainly on his unique observations regarding his personal life, local events, and occasionally the dating game. When I recently read a column in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that further delved into the local dating minefield, I decided to send it to Steve, along with my own perspective as a formerly-single woman. Steve asked my permission to post it on his blog:

I wrote it fairly quickly, so it wasn't as comprehensive as I would have preferred, but I think it gets the conversational ball rolling.
