The Pittsburgh Singles Scene

My friend Steve maintains his own blog that focuses mainly on his unique observations regarding his personal life, local events, and occasionally the dating game. When I recently read a column in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that further delved into the local dating minefield, I decided to send it to Steve, along with my own perspective as a formerly-single woman. Steve asked my permission to post it on his blog:

I wrote it fairly quickly, so it wasn't as comprehensive as I would have preferred, but I think it gets the conversational ball rolling.

Being a product of the dating scene in the 60's yes, Virginia, Camelot was in full bloom (or something!) I had never heard the term "Wingman". Where the heck (doesn't that sound so totally STUPID??) were you, Jennifer, when I NEEDED you?? Actually I didn't have any problems except that I kept getting hit on by babes (is it OK to use that term in these PC days??). Yeh, and the tooth fairy used to pay me visits too if you believe THAT. Did you ever think blogging would be this much fun?? Come on the rest of you. Help this girl out 'an 'at already. She needs more input for Steve. God bless his pea pickin' heart.

I love what you wrote on www.stephenmunoz.com.!!!

It's so true- it is difficult- I mean I can't even imagine what it would be like again.

You are so right about dance clubs- how can you even hold a normal conversation!!!

I agree with what you said on Stephen's site, but I'd like to add in my 2 cents worth, since I am a single woman in Pittsburgh. There are a lot of things to do in this wonderful city if you're single. And who says all single women are looking for a 'soulmate?' I am a happy single person, and I know when the time is right, if it's in my cards, then I'll meet Mr. Right. Until then, I am not going to sit idly by - I'm going out to have fun. :-)

I agree with "Happy Single Person." Nothing wrong with being single. There are times when you are not ready to be in a relationship or you have not met the right person. Nothing easy about it, but I think your positive attitude will serve you well. Enjoy life and keep you eyes open for when you do find the right one. :)
