One Year's Time
As today is a somewhat special day (well, at least it is for my parents), it seems like the perfect opportunity to look back and see how this date in history ranks with the same day on 2004.
Some things have changed a great deal, and yet some things have changed very little. As a lifelong member of the World's Most Impatient People, progress on any front is predestined to be judged as excruciatingly slow by me. And on those issues in which there is no progress at all, my frustration level is heightened even more.
In no particular order, here are things that have improved over the past year:
* My marriage is stronger
* Mom is doing somewhat better at taking care of herself, and not being so dependent upon me
* My Best Friend has re-emerged as the tough, resilient woman I have always known her to be
* Making more money at my job (i.e. got a raise)
* Credit card debt has been significantly reduced -- plus, we no longer use them for ANY purchases at all!
* Grand-ma doesn't cry quite so much when I visit with her
* Exercising more regularly (have lost inches and gained bigger biceps and better shoulders)
* Socking away more money than ever in my 403(b), and Dr. J's IRA
* My IRA is making tons of money! Too bad I can't tap it.
And here are the things which have made no progress:
* I still have to work with/for someone who is a complete jackass
* Tommy Maddox
* Our landlord is still a massive C*NT
* The PA Liquor Control Board is still in existence
* Dad is still depressed, and his wife still makes him eat sh*t on a daily basis
* Still haven't gotten around to establishing order in my office
* Gov. "SPENDell" -- what a frickin' joke that tub o' lard is!
